My fitness addiction: CLASSPASS

I know we’re already a few weeks into 2015, but I wanted to share my experience with finally trying to get back in shape. There’s only so much a person can take of a sedentary lifestyle and I finally reached my limit this January. My issue with working out was that I wanted someone to tell me what to do, but didn’t want to pay for someone to just talk/yell at me while I was on a treadmill or lifting weights. So lucky for me I heard about CLASSPASS through the work grapevine. This company and their take on fitness is a serious lifesaver due to the variety of options and studios that their website provides. From Barre to Krav Maga there really is something for everyone, and at only $99 a month for unlimited classes that’s a steal.

The only con that I experienced is that I’m limited to only three classes per studio per month, but I guess that’s their way of forcing me to go out of my comfort zone and try some new things.

So far I’ve gone to eight classes and I am only halfway through the month. That’s crazy for me. I mean I’ve had a gym membership for the last year and I think the last time I went was half a year ago (which is probably a sign to cancel that membership).

I also wanted to share a review of some of the studios I’ve been to so far. I’m hoping these are helpful if you’re visiting and want to check them out, but locals please don’t crowd these studios. I’d prefer to be able to keep coming here without there becoming a wait list to get in.

Pier 60 Barre is part of the Chelsea Piers Sports Center, but is somewhat physically removed from the gym/running area. That’s great if you’re looking for a more peaceful exercise environment. I’ve taken a few Barre classes before, but I love the teachers at this location. I’ve only done the Total Barre and Core Barre classes, but both instructors were nice and not intimidating. Well I guess you could count watching them stretch and only being able to do half of what they do as intimidating.

Non-CLASSPASS price: $30.00 for single class

AQUA is my fitness mecca. I hands down love love love this place. Now I have to be honest, I’ve been taking their classes before I signed up for ClassPass, but the fact that this studio is offered through the site is amazing! That means I can take more classes without the huge hit to my credit card. I’m particularly drawn to this studio also because of the spa-like feeling of the space. It provides an calm oasis for getting ready post-class.

Non-CLASSPASS price: $42.00 for single class

FYI CLASSPASS (in case this pops up in their Google Alerts) I swear I’ve become an unofficial ambassador for your company. I somehow find a way to bring up your company in any and mostly all of my recent conversations with co-workers and friends. I’m just so thankful that someone finally built something that appeals to those of us who need variety, but don’t want to pay the crazy high prices to stay healthy.
